Skillet Meatball and Mozzarella Bake

Description

A quick and easy meatball bake with melted mozzarella cheese, perfect for a weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. In an oven-safe skillet, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat.
  5. Add the meatballs to the skillet with the marinara sauce.
  6. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and arrange the mozzarella slices over the meatballs and sauce.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • You can use pre-made meatballs to save time.
