Description
Soft and chewy red velvet cookies with a rich chocolate flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, red food coloring, and white vinegar. Add this mixture to the butter and sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- If using, stir in the white chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a more intense red color, you can add an extra drop of food coloring.
- These cookies are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
