Description

A simple recipe for fresh, homemade cranberry sauce.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Stir in orange zest and juice.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Notes

  • For a smoother sauce, you can mash some of the cranberries with a fork while simmering.
  • Adjust sugar to your preference.
  • This sauce can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
