Description

A savory and aromatic broth inspired by classic ramen flavors, featuring garlic and miso.


Ingredients

  • 8 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • Optional: chili flakes for heat


Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, combine the broth, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and grated ginger.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk the miso paste with a ladleful of the hot broth until smooth.
  5. Stir the dissolved miso paste back into the pot.
  6. Heat gently for another 2-3 minutes, but do not boil after adding the miso, as this can diminish its flavor and beneficial properties.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Add chili flakes if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer broth, you can use dashi instead of water for part of the liquid.
  • Adjust the amount of miso paste to your preference.
