Description
A savory and aromatic broth inspired by classic ramen flavors, featuring garlic and miso.
Ingredients
- 8 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons white miso paste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- Optional: chili flakes for heat
Instructions
- In a medium pot, combine the broth, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and grated ginger.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- In a small bowl, whisk the miso paste with a ladleful of the hot broth until smooth.
- Stir the dissolved miso paste back into the pot.
- Heat gently for another 2-3 minutes, but do not boil after adding the miso, as this can diminish its flavor and beneficial properties.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Add chili flakes if desired.
Notes
- For a richer broth, you can use dashi instead of water for part of the liquid.
- Adjust the amount of miso paste to your preference.
- This broth is a base and can be customized with your favorite ramen toppings like noodles, eggs, and vegetables.
