Description
A classic side dish of spinach cooked in a creamy sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 10 ounces fresh spinach, washed and tough stems removed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add shallot and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add spinach to the skillet in batches, allowing it to wilt before adding more.
- Cook until all spinach is wilted.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
