Easy and delicious cheddar biscuits perfect as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 3/4-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut out biscuits using a 2-inch round cutter. Reroll scraps once if needed.
- Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
- For softer biscuits, brush the tops with melted butter after baking.
- You can add a pinch of garlic powder to the dry ingredients for extra flavor.
