Description

Crispy and flavorful oat chips with apple and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup finely diced apple

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, applesauce, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apple.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the chips are firm.
  8. Let the chips cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a thinner, crispier chip, spread the batter very thinly on the baking sheet.
  • You can substitute other spices like nutmeg or ginger for variation.
