Description
Crispy and flavorful oat chips with apple and cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup finely diced apple
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, applesauce, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the diced apple.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the chips are firm.
- Let the chips cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a thinner, crispier chip, spread the batter very thinly on the baking sheet.
- You can substitute other spices like nutmeg or ginger for variation.
